I’ve been having a lot of fun with Claude Code since I retired three months ago. I’ve built some single-purpose things like this website, which I can update on the road. I also built an app to track my slot play, but I find I don’t enjoy using it (any overhead in the casino isn’t fun for me, but it did slow me down so it had its good parts and I may go back to it). But the thing I am happiest about is something I continue to refine; a weather app that I’ve turned into a log of all our travels this year so far.

What you see now are the weather and locations for our trips so far this year, and the forecast for our next trip which starts on Friday. The upcoming trip view is great for packing (we wouldn’t have guessed the rainy weather in New Zealand, for example), and the change recently was to make it also archive the weather and locations we actually experienced. This way we can remember what happened more easily (since I’m old and have #CRS (can’t remember stuff)).
Also experimenting with having it notate what we are up to - like on Saturday when we are doing a make-up show - Foreigner (with Lou Gramm for at least part of the set!) with Night Ranger on Saturday in Tampa before we get on the cruise Sunday…that’s on the weather app view now. This will help a lot with the historical view.
After this trip, we are taking a bit of a break as the poker stuff for the summer ramps up - I have four Vegas trips starting in late May but those are easy drives and short stays. I’ll have poker and gaming stuff from those trips here later in the year. Thanks for reading!
